Joseph Wright

Hey there! I’m Joseph Wright, and I’m a Licensed Veterinary Technician who grew up in sunny Miami, Florida, but now call Little Rock, Arkansas home. My love for animals started as a kid, and it’s been a constant driving force ever since. After earning my Associate’s in Applied Science, I became a licensed technician to dive into the world of veterinary care—because, let’s be honest, what better way to spend your days than helping animals feel their best?
Surgery and sedated procedures are where I really thrive. Whether it’s performing dental cleanings, repairing wounds, or taking care of spays and neuters, I love knowing that I’m making a direct impact on a pet’s well-being. It’s not just about the procedure, it’s about ensuring they’re happy and healthy for years to come.
When I’m not working, I’m hanging out with my 13-year-old German Shepherd, Girly—she’s been by my side for years and is my absolute buddy. I also have a few pet fish that keep things tranquil at home. Animals are my passion, and I’m all about creating positive experiences for them, whether it’s in the clinic or at home.
Veterinary Technician

Courtney Ausbrooks

From Sherwood to Sheridan, my love for animals has always been at the heart of everything I do. With more than five years of experience and a background in a veterinary technician program, I currently serve as a Veterinary Assistant at Healthy Life Pet Clinic. I believe that the veterinary profession is a perfect blend of medicine, compassion, and education, and I feel privileged to make a meaningful impact in the lives of both pets and their owners.
One of the most rewarding aspects of my job is providing comfort during those difficult "goodbye" moments. I focus on ensuring that the process is peaceful and that families feel supported. My pets—Cammie Jo, a sweet pit bull; Catsy, a loving cat; and my other dogs—bring so much joy to my life and keep me grounded in my purpose.
Being part of a team that helps animals heal while supporting their families is why I love my work. The ability to guide owners through their pets’ journeys, whether it’s recovery, comfort, or saying goodbye, gives me a deep sense of fulfillment. Knowing that my role contributes to their well-being and the bond they share with their pets is something I’m truly grateful for. Every day offers an opportunity to make a positive difference, and it’s an honor to be part of that process.
Veterinary Technician

Makenzie Briggs

As a Veterinary Assistant at Healthy Life Pet Clinic, I’m passionate about combining my education and love for animals. I hold a Bachelor’s in Agriculture Business and a Master’s in Animal Science, and I’m excited to start veterinary school at LSU in 2025.
My journey into veterinary medicine began with the loss of my childhood dog, which sparked a desire to advocate for animals who cannot speak for themselves. This passion has grown over the years, driving me to continue my studies and seek out opportunities to make a difference in the lives of animals.
At home, my two dogs keep me on my toes. Willow, my mini Aussie, is known for her adorable wiggle butts, while Waldo, my golden retriever, has a crooked smile that never fails to brighten my day. They are a constant source of inspiration in my veterinary work.
Though I prefer to be in surgery, I enjoy all aspects of the veterinary field, particularly working with families to ensure their pets are well taken care of during their recovery. It’s this combination of science and compassion that makes this work so rewarding.
Veterinary Technician

Austin Cox

My passion for veterinary care began during high school when I worked at a boarding facility in Sheridan, Arkansas. Over the years, I developed a strong interest in emergency medicine and am currently working towards becoming a Certified Veterinary Practice Manager. With a degree in Business and Art Administration from Hendrix College, I combine my love for animals with a strategic vision to help manage clinic operations effectively.
At home, I have a calico cat named Raja who’s as unique as her name. With her heterochromia (two different colored eyes), she definitely stands out. Raja has a quirky personality and a bit of a wild side, but she’s also incredibly loving once she gets to know you. She’s made the transition from “college cat” to “real-life cat” with a lot of patience and a few hilarious moments along the way. Her resilience and charm remind me daily of the importance of embracing individuality, both in animals and in people.
What I love most about my work is problem-solving—whether it’s tackling complex cases or figuring out how to improve processes in the clinic. It’s incredibly rewarding to make a lasting impact on the lives of both animals and their families.
Veterinary Technician

Tanaia Thomas

Hi my name is Tanaia Thomas, and I am a Veterinary Assistant. I'm from Fayetteville, and I moved back to Central Arkansas last summer to be a part of the HPLC family, recruited by Dr. Lang. I have been in Vet Med for 11 years with my first clinic back in 2014. I originally studied Sports Medicine and Kinesiology at the University of Arkansas after I returned from Army Basic Training and AIT. I spent 8 years in the Arkansas Army National Guard in the 1-142 Field Artillery unit.
Upon getting a Summer job at a local vet clinic and working with some awesome DVMs and Techs (Dr. Lang being one) I knew that my heart was set out on continuing the path of Vet Med. I am currently working on completing my B.S. Biology with the hopes of applying to Vet School in the future.
I have 2 cats, Felix, a Tuxedo and Midnight, a black cat who are my sweet boys. They have been with me since they were both little kittens during the pandemic. My favorite case work is running exam rooms. It gives me the opportunity to meet clients and their sweet babies on a personal level, no matter the species and create a special bond. I love starting puppy/kitten exams and seeing them grow-up into their personality. It also gives me the opportunity to educate clients on the health of the new edition to their family. I have lived in so many places and I'm grateful for what Vet Med has done for me. Getting to meet, connect with clients, patients and colleagues. In my spare time I enjoy traveling, running, hiking, spending time with friends/ family, going to sporting events and reading books.
Patient Coordinator

Kanah Huskey

When I think of my journey into veterinary care, it all began with a deep-seated desire to understand animal behavior and biology. As a Patient Coordinator at Healthy Life Pet Clinic, I am fortunate to be surrounded by a team that shares my dedication to animals. Though I'm still growing in this field, I hold a Bachelor’s in Pre-Veterinary Biology, and I’m already planning for my veterinary school applications in 2026.
I’ve always been surrounded by animals, including three beloved cats: Luna, Sol, and Eevee. Luna and Sol were rescued as kittens, and Eevee, who I took in after my brother passed, has faced health challenges that we overcame together. These experiences continue to shape my approach to veterinary care, where I aim to be both a source of information and support for pet families.
In my role, I focus on helping families understand every step of their pets’ care process, from surgeries to follow-up appointments, ensuring they’re confident in the health decisions they make.
Patient Coordinator

Brooke Buckwalter

At Healthy Life Pet Clinic, I’m the go-to Patient Coordinator, combining years of experience in human dermatology with a deep passion for animals. Originally from Hot Springs, Arkansas, my transition into animal care was fueled by my lifelong love for animals. The skills I honed in dermatology have allowed me to bridge human care with animal care, ensuring that both patients and their families feel at ease.
While deep laceration repairs are my favorite area of focus, my role is about much more than the technical side. It’s about building trust with pet owners, guiding them through the healing process, and offering them reassurance. Whether assisting with a routine check-up or a complicated recovery, my goal is to make every pet’s journey smoother for the family.
My personal life mirrors my professional passion—whether traveling with my cat, Tabitha Rose, or exploring new places, I’m always learning and expanding my horizons.
